The aims of BeeSupport

 Our aim is to support projects or initiatives for beekeeping which have been started by people in developing countries. Preferably these are small-scale projects run by the local community for the improvement of income, welfare and nature conservation.

They themselves organise all the activities, such as the training of beekeepers, and they themselves say what further developments are necessary. They account for the moneys received by means of extensive reports. Progress and plans are discussed with the project-leaders through contact by e-mail and a meeting at the bi-annual   International Beekeeping Congress Apimondia.

The second aim of BeeSupport is to encourage the recognition of beekeeping as an important contribution to nature conservation and a means of improving the living- conditions of the people.

The Foundation tries to achieve its aims by:

  • giving information on the importance of bees and their products;
  • strengthening the base of support for beekeepers in developing countries;
  • raising funds for beekeeping-projects and giving financial and other support to projects in the context of the aims of the foundation;
  • mediating between beekeeping-projects and Dutch and international organisations for training, publicity, sponsoring, subsidies, and marketing.
